The simple idea
A useful mobile setup should help you find the next job, answer the right person, and leave a note your team can use.
You have five minutes between jobs
You need the next address, a customer’s gate instructions, and confirmation that the office changed the arrival time. Instead, you’re scrolling through messages trying to remember who sent what.
Working from a phone can be convenient. It can also mean a lot of hunting around on a small screen.
Before adding another app, write down the three things you most often need when you’re out. Build your wish list around those tasks, not around a screen full of features.
Keep the job details together
For a service visit, that might mean the customer’s name, the address, the agreed time, and a short note about the work. Put changes where the next person will look for them.
Try finding those details on your current phone. Can you do it without checking several conversations? If not, decide which place should hold the current answer.
A customer record is just a place to keep those details together. It doesn’t have to become a long report.
Make it easy to leave a useful note
“Called customer; waiting for a new date” is more helpful than “done.” The first note tells the office what still needs to happen.
Choose a few simple updates your team understands. Don’t give them twenty nearly identical choices. If a note takes longer than the task, people may stop writing it.
Check what happens when the signal is poor, too. Don’t assume every tool saves changes without an internet connection. Try the actual work before relying on it during a busy day.
Ask to see your task on a phone
When discussing a new setup, ask to see how you’d find a job and update it from a phone. A desktop demonstration won’t answer that question.
Praxen Business can help you explore which mobile tasks your chosen tools can support. You shouldn’t have to figure out every feature. Start with what would make the next workday easier.
